Gestalt Experiments and Creative Use of Self as Coach: July 14-15-16, 2020
July 14, 2020 @ 12:00 am - October 5, 2023 @ 9:48 am
The capacity to read one’s environment and become aware of what is needed in the moment is a hallmark of Gestalt coaching competency. Awareness skills are vehicles of assessment, and the foundation of creative interventions and “learning experiments” that move the client toward new possibilities.
Gestalt experiment, a distinctive and powerful learning structure, is a highly valued tool of Gestalt-based coaching. In the coaching encounter, when we notice clients who intentionally or unintentionally continue patterns of behavior that do not serve their desires or goals, it is useful to offer a learning experiment. Such experiments allow the client to explore and understand their challenges, or to “try out” new behavior(s) to discover new possibilities. Being able to offer Gestalt experiments sparks energy, value, and curiosity.
Learning Goals
- The “how-to’s” involved in creating and delivering experiments
- A range of experiment structures to support creativity
- How to be aware of your presence and intentional use of self
You will receive
- Feedback to support learning
- Learning guidelines to practice working with experiments
- Basic competency in awareness tools
- A practice plan toward professional coaching competency
Gestalt experiment requires a “safe learning” environment, which we will co-create in this online experience. The core concepts and exercises will be delivered across two days. A third day will offer a practicum experience that incorporates feedback and developmental coaching.
This workshop is open to those who are already practising coaches who are looking to add the power of Gestalt experiment to their coaching toolkit. We welcome HR personnel, organizational consultants, teachers, business leaders, and managers who use coaching as a central practice and who wish to strengthen and expand their repertoire.
